Absentee BallotsThose who have already applied for an absentee ballot for the March 10, 2020 Election will receive one by mail in early February. Absentee ballots have a new look this year in the State of Michigan, so please keep an eye out for the new blue and white envelope, images of the outer envelope and the inner envelope are displayed below.
Outer Envelope (Front/Back): This is the envelope you will see in the mailbox. The new design is now compliant with standards set by the United States Postal Service.
Inner Envelope (Front/Back): Remember to sign the back before returning your ballot!You will use the green and white inner envelope to return your absentee ballot. Make sure to sign the back of the green and white inner envelope in the designated space when returning your ballot.
General InformationIf you would like to apply for an absentee ballot for this election, please fill out and submit an absentee voting application. You no longer need to provide a reason to request an absentee ballot.
The City maintains a list of voters who wish to automatically be mailed an absentee voter application for each election, referred to as the Permanent Absent Voter List. If you are interested in being added to the mailing list for absentee voter applications, please either check the appropriate box on the absentee application, or alternatively, submit a signed, written request.
If you need to register to vote, or are unsure of your voter registration status, please visit the Michigan Voter Information Center, where online voter registration options are available. Otherwise, you can submit a voter registration form.
