Captain William Price

100_1630.JPGd. December 17, 1957, 57 years. Sec. 1-180. A native of Maryland, Captain Price came to Macomb County in April 1823. He married Sally Axford (d. June 19, 1878, 70 years), daughter of the Honorable Samuel Axford, Judge of the Macomb County Probate Court. The couple moved to Avon in 1830. "in the spring of 1837, he purchased the Hersey property in Stoney Creek), including the farm, grist-mill, and carding mill, which he operated for 12 or 15 years." Joseph Winkler purchased the mill after Captain Price died. He was the first Avon Township supervisor.
